New Moon in Cancer: Curtain

Some truths remain hidden until their time comes.

No secret in the universe remains hidden forever; each one eagerly awaits the day it will come to light.

Sometimes we too – knowingly or unknowingly – draw a thick curtain between our reality and life's rote expectations. This curtain creates an invisible barrier between us and our deepest desires. Nothing is lost, we always know it's there, but it's not visible; it cannot take over the course of events, it is suppressed. Perhaps during a sunset or when we're high, we remember it involuntarily and quickly dismiss it, of course.

Like a fake actor setting up a magnificent stage and ranting into nothingness, we play our games in front of the curtain. But one day, at an unexpected moment, a strong wind blows and parts that curtain. What lies behind becomes visible, and we freeze. This Cancer New Moon is coming to blow into our lives like that wind, to part the curtains.

We will feel this wind, and we will feel it deep within our skin. We will see the fabric stir back and forth, and we will be terrified to meet eye-to-eye with what awaits us behind it. Perhaps some of us will quickly close the curtain just as it is about to open. But in vain... The wind has started blowing. The curtain will open, if necessary, it will come off its hinges. Whatever has been imprisoned in our thousand-year-old shadows will be set free, and like that bold first ray of the day, it will lick the walls, fill the house, sooner or later.

First, we will be bewildered, startled, and recoil. Perhaps we will want to run and hide in another room. However, the light has already seeped in. We are now compelled to rise from the soft corners of our comfortable tales, to sober up from the lies we whisper to ourselves, and to meet our true desires.

It's not easy, of course... But it's essential.

The Cancer New Moon gently stirs our curtains that have been hanging motionless for years, skillfully concealing what we truly desire.

This New Moon, hand in hand with retrograde Mercury in Cancer, which repeatedly reopens our deepest wounds of belonging, emphasizes that facing our truths with adult responsibility and finally 'accepting' them will free us, despite the lies a child tells themselves just to avoid being hurt. With its cardinal axes, this New Moon expects decisive action from us!

“Do not return to sleep, for this wind does not blow for those who have not set out on their journey,” it says. Mercury, suspended at the top of the chart, cries out, “Realization!” Perhaps this pain, this lostness, this surrender felt as the curtain opens and reveals the truths, is the breaking of the shell that encloses understanding... And the pain of a new form of existence that will set out with a brand-new enthusiasm…

The New Moon's square to Saturn in Aries tells us that the peace and happiness you hope to blossom in your heart can only be fermented through a courageous confrontation and a subsequent constructive step taken on the path of truth. This is a somewhat heartbreaking reckoning with your fears and beliefs you've been too lazy to look at, postponed, covered up, acted as if they didn't exist for years; with your wounds that never healed, and with a past you just couldn't leave behind.

But if you don't, you won't find peace.

You won't break free from your rote patterns.

Even if you hope for something different, you won't find it.

Perhaps you will keep turning in a familiar and comfortable, but ultimately barren and confining, cycle; you will once again discard your true desires.

The Sabian symbol for the New Moon is very significant: “A woman awaiting a sailboat.” Suddenly, a wind will blow, part the curtain, and behind it, perhaps the sailboat you've always awaited will appear…

With Libra rising, it means the main issues are relationships, emotions, bonds, commitments... Its ruler, Venus, is conjunct the South Node, the gatekeeper of the past, square Uranus, the symbol of sudden breaks, and progressing to a square with Mars, the symbolism of separations. Some things are ending, there's no way around it. Saturn, right from the house of relationships, pushes for a fair judgment. Pluto, conjunct Juno, presses the button for an awakening and an inevitable transformation amidst crises in relationships.

Venus is wounded, very insecure, but now looks at what's happening from a more realistic, perhaps even a bit 'utilitarian' place.
